Premraj K.K.
Based in Bengaluru, Premraj K.K. is a remarkable creative force who transitioned from the corporate sector into the world of art. Today, he works as a versatile freelancer across diverse fields including marketing consultancy, filmmaking, graphic design, translation, and film editing. Within the Malayali community in Bengaluru, he is widely recognized as a distinguished writer and storyteller.
His literary contributions have earned him numerous prestigious awards. The novel Shehnai Muzhangumbol—published in Malayalam, Kannada, and English—garnered the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Award, Rabindra Ratna Award, Netaji Smriti Award (2025), and the Dr. Palpu Memorial Award. His short story collections have also been celebrated: Kilikal Parannupokunna Idam received the Thamarathoni Award (P Foundation) and the Aathmayanangalude Khasak Award, while Tulip Pushpangalude Padam won the V. Ponnappan Achari Memorial Award. Other honors include the U.A. Khader Award, Akbar Kakkattil Award, Thikkurissy Foundation Award, Samskar Bharati’s Valmiki Keerthi Award, and the Karoor Memorial Award. His English collection The Light of the Lantern was recognized at the Kolkata Literary Festival in the fiction category.
Beyond literature, Premraj has made a mark in cinema. His short films, written and directed with sensitivity and vision, have won international awards. His creative excellence has been acknowledged by multiple record institutions, including the India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, America Book of Records, Harvard Book of Records, Universal Book of Records, and Kerala Book of Records. He currently serves as a member of the Censor Board’s advisory committee.
